London hosts musical evening marking Azerbaijan’s Independence Day

The Azerbaijan Society of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSESU Azerbaijan Society) hosted a musical and cultural evening entitled "Last Tune in London" marking Azerbaijan’s Independence Day with the joint organization of the Azerbaijan Students and Alumni Platform (ASAP) and the Azerbaijan Youth Foundation.
The event celebrated the end of the academic year, bringing together Azerbaijani students and professionals in the UK.
Members of the LSE Azerbaijan Society Zeytuna Sultanzade and Bakhtiyar Salmanov made opening remarks.
Addressing the event, Elin Suleymanov, Azerbaijani Ambassador to the UK, highlighted the importance of such initiatives in preserving and promoting national identity among Azerbaijani youth, stressing that students studying abroad serve as cultural ambassadors of their country.
The evening’s special guest was Vusala Babayeva, a talented pianist, Presidential Scholar, and Laureate of International Competitions, who captivated the audience with her remarkable performance. Pieces such as Vagif Mustafazadeh’s “March”, Sevda Mammadli’s “Azerbaijani Patterns”, and “Pages of Life” by Fikret Amirov and Vagif Mustafazade received enthusiastic applause from the audience.
The even continued with an informal part featuring a cultural dialogue and new connections among young participants.
The event took place at the Founders’ Room, or as it is more popularly known the Shaw Library, one of the significant historical spaces within the LSE. The room is named after Charlotte Shaw, the wife of playwright George Bernard Shaw - one of the founders of the London School of Economics.
“LSESU Azerbaijan Society” is a student society operating at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). The organization aims to bring together LSE students who are interested in Azerbaijan and Caucasus region while promoting an awareness of Azerbaijan culture, politics and economy, as well as foster unity and solidarity among Azerbaijani students.
