Political analyst: Armenia’s existing revanchist approach undermines confidence in peace process – COMMENTARY

“The reactions steered by certain Armenian politicians, public activists, and media representatives toward the diplomatic corps visiting Garabagh draw attention amid newly emerging regional realities. The politicization of diplomatic visits within Azerbaijani territory and the aggressive rhetoric surrounding them primarily indicate that certain stereotypes regarding Azerbaijan’s Garabagh region persist within Armenian society,” political analyst Tural Ismayilov told AZERTAC.
According to him, Garabagh and other liberated territories are internationally recognized regions of Azerbaijan. “In this regard, hosting various state events, organizing visits for foreign diplomats, and presenting Azerbaijan's cultural and historical heritage to the international community in these areas fall entirely within Azerbaijan’s sovereign rights,” he noted.
“The Azerbaijani side's stance is clear: Garabagh is a sovereign territory of Azerbaijan, and the country will continue to conduct diplomatic visits, international events, and cultural projects in these areas,” Ismayilov noted.
“The persistence of revanchist approaches within Armenia's political and public spheres remains one of the factors undermining trust in the peace process. If Armenia genuinely seeks long-term peace, a key indicator will be accepting Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity not just at the diplomatic table, but also within political rhetoric and public discourse,” he added.
