Rama: Albania in EU by 2030 is our paramount national objective
Baku, February 26, AZERTAC
Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today at the extended meeting of the Socialist Party Parliamentary group and the government cabinet at the Palace of Brigades, that Albania is ramping up its European integration efforts, according to the Albanian News Agency (ATA).
“We are moving into the assessment phase and preparing to secure approval for key milestones. According to our leaders in this process, this is a rather difficult test which requires comprehensive preparation at a national level”, Rama stated.
He underlined that unlike Albania, other countries required years to complete this phase. While according to the government’s timeline, the test is scheduled to conclude in the coming months.
“This requires strength, which I define as unifying all effort into a single point”, said the prime minister.
Rama expressed confidence that the country will successfully overcome this phase, despite the considerable obstacles.
And he pointed at the homemade bombs in the streets representing a desperate opposition as well as the disinformation factory churning out fabricated narratives.
Quoting a popular expression, Rama said that, “A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes”. He added that today, unlike the slow, centralized news of the past, disinformation now travels instantly through every screen.
The head of government emphasized that under these circumstances, we should focus on work and self-improvement.
Rama invited the MPs for an open debate within the political family, but with a single objective: Albania in the European Union in 2030.
“After debating and sharing opinions, we must focus on one point, on only one point and no other, Albania in the European Union in 2030”, emphasized the prime minister.
Finally, he appreciated integration into the European Union as a historic moment for the country.
“Albania in the EU is not another stage of the country’s development. Albania in the EU is history”, emphasized Rama.
