RUSSIAN AMBASSADOR VISITS AZERTAC
Baku, 3 February (AZERTAC). Russian Ambassador Vladimir Dorokhin has visited Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency (AZERTAC) where he met its Director General Aslan Aslanov.
Aslanov briefed the Ambassador on the history of the agency which was founded by the Government of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in 1920.
He also spoke of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev`s contribution to Azerbaijan`s development, saying his policy “is today successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev”.
“Reforms conducted over last few years allowed Azerbaijan to considerably strengthen its international image and become the regional leader.”
“These successes open new opportunities for expanding AZERTAC`s international relations as well,” said Aslanov, praising the national leader`s contribution to improving the agency`s work.
Aslanov noted AZERTAC was a member of a large number of regional and international organizations.
“Today we are a member of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies, European Alliance of News Agencies, and are also founding members of Association of National News Agencies of CIS countries, Black Sea Association of National News Agencies, and Association of Turkish Speaking News Agencies.”
The Director General said his agency enjoyed “friendly” ties with a number of Russian news agencies, especially with ITAR-TASS.
Aslanov also stressed national leader Heydar Aliyev`s contribution to deepening the Azerbaijan-Russia relations.
Ambassador Dorokhin hailed AZERTAC`s cooperation with Russian news agencies, saying “this cooperation reflects the spirit of bilateral ties between our countries.”
The Russian diplomat said AZERTAC made “huge” contribution to strengthening the bilateral relationship.
“AZERTAC means an accurate and objective information, and therefore I prefer using news stories of your agency in my work,” said Dorokhin.
Aslanov invited the Russian ambassador to ANIA`s conference Baku will host in March on the occasion of AZERTAC`s 90th anniversary.
