Sheki’s historic sites and landmarks fascinate Ukrainian children

The Social Services Agency under the Azerbaijani Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population continues rehabilitation activities for another 30 children brought to Azerbaijan from Ukraine. As part of the program, the children were taken on a tour of Gabala, Shamakhi and Sheki.
During their visit to Sheki, the Ukrainian children had the opportunity to discover the city’s historical sites and notable attractions.
The Ukrainian children’s visit to Sheki began at the Yukhari Bash National Historical-Architectural Reserve, where they explored the 18th-century Sheki Khan’s Palace. The historic center of Sheki, including the palace, have been included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Group leader Yulia Terezina, visiting Azerbaijan for the first time, thanked everyone for the warm welcome and care shown to the group.
Yelizaveta Fanaskova from Kharkiv region said she was deeply impressed by the palace and expressed gratitude for the hospitality and rehabilitation services, noting that the children had enjoyed peaceful and safe days in Azerbaijan.
The children also visited the “ABAD” Ceramics and Applied Arts Center as they explored workshops and shops producing and selling the renowned Sheki halva.
Ruhib Rahimov, Director of the Gabala Children’s Rehabilitation Center, said the team worked to make the children’s stay meaningful, providing psychological consultations, group therapy, yoga, dance therapy, massage, pool and bath treatments, art therapy and other rehabilitation services.
