TASHKENT TO HOST MEETING OF AZERBAIJAN-UZBEKISTAN INTERGOVERMENTAL JOINT COMMISSION
Baku, September 24 (AZERTAC). The 9th meeting of Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan intergovermental joint commission on cooperation has been held in Tashkent.
Deputy Prime Ministers and co-chairs of the commission Batir Khodjayev of Uzbekistan and Yagub Eyyubov of Azerbaijan stressed the importance of deepening political, trade, economic and cultural relations between the two countries.
They discussed effective utilization of transport infrastructure by the two states.
They noted more than 100 documents were signed between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in various fields.
The volume of trade turnover between the two countries made up $46.3 million in 2009.
The Deputy PMs exchanged views on prospects for economic cooperation in a variety of sectors.
Eyyubov spoke of economic reforms in the country.
Touching upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, he said Armenia`s aggressive policy against Azerbaijan led to the occupation of 20 percent of the country`s territories, and more than one million people had been driven out from their original lands.
The meeting ended with the signing of a protocol.
