AZERBAIJAN PROSECUTOR GENERAL`S OFFICE DELEGATION VISITS LITHUANIA
Baku, 19 October (AZERTAC). A delegation of Azerbaijan Prosecutor General`s Office led by chief of Department for Combating Corruption Kamran Aliyev on October 12-16 visited Lithuania.
The visit took place in the framework of the EU-funded Twinning project which is the principal tool of pre-accession assistance for Institution Building.
During the visit, the delegation conducted several meetings with Lithuanian officials including head of the Lithuanian Special Investigation Service Zimantas Pacevicius, Chief Adviser to the President for National Security Affairs Jonas Markevicius and advisor Valdas Jakunas.
Jonas Markevicius stressed the importance of relations between Azerbaijan and Lithuania. He said combating corruption was one of priorities for law enforcement bodies in his country.
The delegation members also met with Prosecutor General of Lithuania Algimantas Valantinas who updated his department`s activities.
The Azerbaijani delegation met with deputy chairwoman of Lithuanian Seimas`s anti-corruption commission Agne Bilotaitė. She spoke of statutory acts on combating corruption adopted in the Lithuanian parliament.
The delegation members noted Azerbaijan`s parliament had ratified international anti-corruption conventions, informing on the results of reforms carried out in country.
