AZERBAIJAN: REBIRTH OF WINEGROWING
An article, entitled “Azerbaijan: rebirth of the ruined winegrowing”, dedicated to winegrowing in Azerbaijan was published in Paris in the monthly journal “Wine Plantation”. The Author Reji Jauntier writes that during the 80th of the last century 2 million tons of grapes were picked from 280 thousand hectares. Then, came the years when the wine plantations were reduced, and later, during the Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan, the field was simply forgotten, wine plants were suspended, the author narrates. In spite of these facts, at present, non-oil sector is in the center of attention in Azerbaijan and referring to the Ministry of Economic Development of Azerbaijan, the author writes that it is planned to lay out new plantations with the area of 60 thousand hectares in 24 regions and the Government allotted 57 billion manats to develop this field. In the whole, the article of Reji Jante gives to the French readers a wide notion on past, present and future of the winegrowing in Azerbaijan.
