Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University’s Guba branch delegation visits AZERTAC
Baku, July 16, AZERTAC
A delegation led by Yusif Aliyev, Head of the Guba branch of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, visited the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC) on Wednesday.
The guests first toured the agency’s photo archive, viewing images depicting National Leader Heydar Aliyev, President Ilham Aliyev, and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva participating in various events and giving interviews to local and international media. They also explored photo displays showcasing President Ilham Aliyev’s addresses to the nation during the Second Karabakh War, his visits to liberated territories, and a museum exhibition featuring the technical equipment used by AZERTAC over the years.
The delegation then met with Chairman of the Board of AZERTAC Vugar Aliyev.
During the meeting, Chairman Vugar Aliyev highlighted AZERTAC’s role in Azerbaijan’s information landscape and provided insights into the agency’s regional and international correspondent bureaus. He also discussed the challenges facing journalism today.
Vugar Aliyev emphasized that the foundation of the national press was laid on July 22, 1875, with the publication of “Akinchi,” the first Azerbaijani-language newspaper, by prominent intellectual, educator, and publicist Hasan Bey Zardabi. He noted that the delegation’s visit coincides with the 150th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s National Press. “The wide celebration of the 150th anniversary of the National Press, in accordance with the order signed by President Ilham Aliyev, reflects the great attention given to the media,” he added.
Yusif Aliyev, Head of the Guba branch of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, noted that the visit - organized as part of the 150th anniversary of the National Press - also aligns with the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty.” He highlighted the importance of journalism education and practical training, emphasizing that such visits strengthen cooperation between higher education institutions and media outlets while providing students with valuable real-world experience.
Both sides agreed that the meeting would create new opportunities for future collaboration between educators and journalists.
At the end of the visit, the guests paid tribute at the bas-relief dedicated to AZERTAC’s martyred journalist Maharram Ibrahimov. They also toured the agency’s editorial offices, as well as its photo and video studios equipped with advanced technologies, observing the news production process firsthand.
