Azerbaijani ambassador to Japan delivers lecture in University of Tsukuba
Baku, December 14 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s ambassador to Japan Gursel Ismayilzade has delivered a lecture at the University of Tsukuba.
First the ambassador met with vice-president of the University, Yutaka Tsujinaka to discuss how to expand education cooperation between Azerbaijan and Japan.
The diplomat spoke of Azerbaijan`s successful integration into the world community after the country regained independence, political and economic accomplishments achieved under President Ilham Aliyev`s leadership, the participation of Azerbaijan in regional energy and transport projects. The ambassador stressed the role of Azerbaijan in ensuring Europe`s energy policy. He added the Azerbaijani government also attaches great importance to development of non-oil sector in the country. The diplomat noted Azerbaijan was recognized in the world as a reliable partner. “The country`s securing a seat on the UN Security Council is an evidence of this.”
Touching upon the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Ismayilzade said 20 percent of Azerbaijani territories were occupied by Armenia and more than one million Azerbaijanis were driven out from their original lands. “The Azerbaijani government makes efforts to settle the conflict peacefully, but official Yerevan demonstrates unconstructive position.”
The diplomat also spoke of relationship between Azerbaijan and Japan.
The event participants also saw a film featuring Azerbaijan`s history, culture, art and tourism potential.
During the event, Japanese language version of the Heritage magazine was presented.
