Azerbaijani culture night held in Tokyo
Baku, February 10 (AZERTAC). The Embassy of Azerbaijan in Tokyo has organized an Azerbaijani culture night to mark the 20th anniversary of establishment of Azerbaijan-Japan relationship.
The event brought together members of the Japanese parliament, officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Addressing the event, ambassador Gursel Ismayilzade praised Azerbaijan-Japan relationship. He also praised cooperation between the two countries within international organizations.
The ambassador noted national leader Heydar Aliyev`s first visit to Japan in 1998 was a turning point in development of bilateral ties. He added Azerbaijan-Japan cooperation entered a new stage after President Ilham Aliyev`s official visit to this country in 2006.
The ambassador also spoke of Azerbaijan`s economy, energy policy, successful projects being carried out in the country.
The diplomat also noted this year several meetings, symposiums and conferences are planned to be held in Japan to mark the 20th anniversary of establishment of Azerbaijan-Japan relations.
Ismayilzade pointed out Azerbaijan`s election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council proved that the country is recognized in the world as a reliable partner.
Speaking at the event, co-chair of Azerbaijan-Japan interparliamentary friendship group Akira Amari said his country keeps a close eye on the ongoing accomplishments in Azerbaijan.
Secretary General of Azerbaijan-Japan interparliamentary friendship group Akihiro Ohata, MPs Kosaka Kenji, Haku Shinkun, Ubukata Yukio, Masao Ishizu, Foreign Ministry`s officials Toyohisa Kozuki and Masaki Ikegami said the achievements of Azerbaijan are the result of the wise policy of the country`s leadership.
