Azerbaijani delegation attends 15th Eurasian Economic Summit in Istanbul
Baku, April 13 (AZERTAC). The Azerbaijani delegation comprising of deputy chairman of Milli Majlis Valeh Alasgarov, chief of socio-political department of Presidential Administration Ali Hasanov, minister of emergencies Kamaladdin Heydarov, minister of energy Natig Aliyev, minister of education Misir Mardanov and chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora Nazim Ibrahimov participated in the 15th Eurasian Economic Summit started in Lutfi Kirdar Congress Center in Istanbul. The event was organized by the Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation. Before the summit the Azerbaijani side has organized the “Azerbaijani evening” which brought together more than 300 presidents, prime-ministers, ministers and representatives from 48 countries.
During the evening, winners of the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 Eldar Gasimov and Nigar Jamal, as well as Azerbaijani singer Tunzala Agayeva gave a concert. A video message of the UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova was broadcasted.
A chief of socio-political department of the Presidential Administration Ali Hasanov read out a letter of congratulation of Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev to the summit participants.
“Azerbaijan has been actively participating in the summit since 2001. A number of country participants has been reached 48 against seven 15 years ago. The national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev was the honorary chairman of Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation. Last year, President Ilham Aliyev was also elected as honorary chairman of the Foundation. This year, more than 300 representatives from 48 countries, including Presidents, Prime-Ministers, Ministers, MPs and businessmen attended the “Azerbaijani evening” and closely familiarized with the country. During these forums Azerbaijani delegation raise issues linked with Armenia Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and transnational projects,” Mr. Hasanov said.
Chairman of the Marmara Group Foundation Akkan Suver said guests including four presidents and dozens of ministers from about 40 countries gathered here to mark the bronze anniversary of the summit.
Turkish Parliamentary Speaker Cemil Çiçek, Montenegran President Filip Vujanovic, Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov, Istanbul governor Huseyin Avni Mutlu spoke of importance of the event and wished success to forum participants.
Chairman of the Caucasian Muslim Board Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh made a speech during the panel on intercultural dialogue.
A book “Eurasian summits: view from Azerbaijan”, the authors of which are professor Ali Hasanov and the honorary journalist Khalid Niyazov, includes information about Eurasian economic summits.
