Azerbaijani Deputy Premier gives interview to Japan`s TV channel
Baku, August 4 (AZERTAC). Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the State Committee on Refugee and IDP affairs Ali Hasanov gave an interview to Japan`s TV Tokyo channel.
Ali Hasanov touched upon Nagorno-Karabakh dispute, its history, plight of refugees and IDPs. He noted that Azerbaijanis faced deportations, ethnic cleansing during the complicated processes in the last 200 years.
“Armenia was created at the expense of the original Azerbaijani lands. Ancient Azerbaijani city of Irevan is the capital of Armenia,” Ali Hasanov said.
He pointed out that the Armenian aggression resulted in occupation of 20 percent of Azerbaijani lands, displacement of over a million people and destruction of infrastructure.
The committee chairman underlined that the UN Security Council adopted four resolutions demanding withdrawal of Armenian troops and return of IDPS to their homes.
The Armenian aggressive policy was condemned by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other international organizations. Unfortunately, these decisions and resolutions have not yet been implemented. The OSCE-mediated peace talks have not produced any results over the past 20 years,” he noted.
Ali Hasanov pointed out that the Armenian troops committed genocide against Azerbaijanis in the town of Khojaly on February 25-26. As a result, this attack on the town left 613 people dead. A number of countries have already recognized it as a genocide.
Hasanov pointed out that Armenian armed forces seek to exacerbate the situation on the frontline and reconnaissance groups raided on the Azerbaijani positions.
On the Japan-Azerbaijan relations, the Deputy PM said there are good ties between the countries and reciprocal visits play an important role in taking these relations forward. According to him, a number of Japanese humanitarian organizations, in particular Fuji Optical, have successfully implemented their projects in Azerbaijan.
