Azerbaijan`s ambassador to Morocco meets incoming Senegalese Foreign Minister
Baku, April 23 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s ambassador to Morocco Sabir Aghabayov has met newly appointed Foreign Minister of Senegal Alioune Badara Cisse.
During the meeting, the ambassador handed over a congratulatory letter of Azerbaijan`s President Ilham Aliyev to new President of Senegal Macky Sall.
He asked Cisse to pass on the letter to the Senegalese leader.
Aghabayov also handed over a congratulatory letter of Azerbaijan`s FM Elmar Mammadyarov to Alioune Badara Cisse on his election as Senegalese Foreign Minister.
In his letter Mammadyarov invited Senegalese counterpart to visit Azerbaijan.
The diplomat briefed the Senegalese Minister on Azerbaijan`s history, culture, the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and the country`s stance on the dispute.
Touching upon history of Azerbaijan-Senegal relations, Aghabayov noted the two countries enjoy fruitful cooperation within international organizations.
He said Baku and Dakar were sister cities.
The ambassador stressed the necessity of expanding bilateral ties between the two countries in a variety of fields.
Badara Cisse accepted the invitation of Elmar Mammadyarov to visit Azerbaijan.
The Foreign Minister praised the Azerbaijan-Senegal cooperation within the UN and Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
The Minister underlined the importance of expanding political, cultural, economic and tourism relations between the two countries.
Cisse noted Senegal has always supported Azerbaijan`s fair position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Aghabayov presented the Senegalese FM with French and English language books on Azerbaijan`s history, geography, tourism, as well as the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
