Azeri envoy meets chairman of Kazakhstan Senate
Astana, May 6 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s ambassador to Kazakhstan Zakir Hashimov has met chairman of the Senate Kayrat Mami.
The ambassador briefed the chairman on reforms being conducted in Azerbaijan, the country`s increasing image in the world and preparations for Eurovision-2012 song contest.
He highlighted Armenia`s non-constructive position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and spoke of the Azerbaijani leadership`s efforts to ensure peaceful settlement of the dispute.
Hashimov also hailed Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan relations, saying their foundations were laid by national leader Heydar Aliyev and Kazakhstan`s president Nursultan Nazarbayev.
The ambassador stressed Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev`s Kazakhstan trip in 2011 opened new stage in bilateral relations.
Kayrat Mami congratulated the ambassador on Azerbaijan`s election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council and the country`s chairmanship of the organization.
The chairman has also praised development of relations between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. He stressed Azerbaijan is the closest partner of Kazakhstan in the Caucasus region.
He also underlined the role of Azerbaijanis in development of economy of Kazakhstan.
Mami said he would soon visit Azerbaijan.
