AZERI EXPERTS ATTEND DISCUSSIONS ON ENVIRONMENTAL SECURITY IN CIS
Moscow, August 27 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijani experts are attending discussions on a draft convention on environmental security in CIS member countries.
The CIS Executive Committee has gathered in Minsk.
The document will be aimed at developing the interstate cooperation to ensure environmental security in the member states.
The main goals of such cooperation are the agreed policy on ecology and environment protection, the harmonization of the environmental legislation, the development of the interstate programs and projects on environmental management and ecological security, the guidance for the CIS Red Book.
According to the United Nations Charter, the CIS Charter and the principles of the international law, all the countries have the right to develop their natural resources in line with their national policies on environment protection and economic development, the CIS Executive Committee informs. At the same time, the CIS countries are concerned about the transboundary pollution of the environment by chemical, biological and genetic agents and hazardous wastes. So, the CIS is developing the concept aimed at preserving the favorable environment for the present and future generations.
