Baku hosts business forum on railway development prospects
Baku, October 13 (AZERTAC). A business forum “Strategic partnership 1520: Caucasus region” kicked off here Tuesday to mark the 130th anniversary of the “Azerbaijan Railways”.
The event provides forum for discussions on the railways in CIS member countries and Baltic nations as well as Finland and Mongolia. 1520 is a width of railways in these countries.
Speaking at the event Deputy Premier Abid Sharifov noted development of transport sector is an important part of the successful economic policy.
According to him, the 2010-2014 state program on railway development envisages reconstruction of railways and acquisition of new cars.
Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov spoke about President Ilham Aliyev`s care for transport system in the country. He highlighted the importance of Azerbaijan-Russia-Iran railways.
The event will end on October 13.
