BAKU HOSTS CONFERENCE ON NATO STRATEGIC CONCEPTION
Baku, November 19 (AZERTAC). A conference entitled “NATO`s new strategic conception: partners` contribution to discussions” is underway in Baku. The event is organized by Azerbaijan Foreign Affairs Ministry and NATO International School of Azerbaijan.
NATO`s strategic conception and prospects of development are in the focus of conference.
Opening the conference, Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov said NATO should provide a guarantee of security both for members and partners. Security in NATO depends on joint activity of the members and partners of the organization, he said.
On role of Azerbaijan in process of integration into the North Atlantic Alliance, Mr. Azimov said partner countries, including Azerbaijan are very important for NATO.
“We are important for NATO as a common architecture of security in the Euro-Atlantic community. Today, borders of Azerbaijan are the borders of Europe”, Azimov said. He stressed notable contribution of the Azerbaijan`s State Frontier Service and Ministry of National Security to fighting terrorism.
Representatives of the relevant structures of NATO and Azerbaijan, heads of the diplomatic corps were present at the meeting.
