The program, jointly implemented by the Fourth Industrial Revolution Analysis and Coordination Center (4IRC) under the Ministry of Economy, the State Agency for Science and Higher Education, and “Coursera,” aims to develop students’ digital knowledge and skills and encourage them to make use of international training opportunities.
In his opening remarks, Aghasi Malikov, BEU’s Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation, spoke about the impact of industrial revolutions on our lives and the education system. Drawing attention to the advantages of the “National Program,” he noted that, through the platform, students have the opportunity to attend lectures by renowned scholars and specialists from leading technology companies and acquire modern knowledge and skills.
The Vice-Rector also highlighted BEU’s results within the program. Speaking next, Khayala Fatullayeva, Head of the Digital Economy Department of 4IRC, said that the program has been implemented for three years and that its main goal is to develop human capital. She touched on research being conducted to identify the professions of the future, emphasizing the importance of the roles of the state, universities, and employers in this process.
Khayala Fatullayeva noted that adapting to the demands of the modern world and acquiring digital skills are important for increasing competitiveness in the labor market. She said that while technological changes and automation may reduce demand for some professions, they also create conditions for the emergence of new specializations and job opportunities. In this regard, skills in using artificial intelligence and digital technology tools are among the important factors for success in the labor market of the future.
