BRIEFING HELD FOR MILITARY ATTACHES ACCREDITED IN AZERBAIJAN
Baku, 11 December (AZERTAC). A briefing has been held today for military attaches accredited in Azerbaijan to inform them about the accomplishments achieved by the Azerbaijani Army, the outcomes of the current year and future plans.
Chief of Azerbaijan Defense Ministry`s department on international military cooperation Ramiz Najafov said successful reforms had been implemented in the Armed Forces since 2007 in the framework of the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP). He noted Azerbaijan had done a lot to modernize its weapons.
For the first time, Azerbaijan`s military attaches abroad gathered in Baku to discuss some issues, Najafov said.
According to him, 10 official and working meetings on the level of ministers were held in Azerbaijan, while 8 in foreign countries.
Najafov pointed out Azerbaijan has doubled the number of its contingent participating in peace-making operations. He said the country has military cooperation with 54 countries, adding 102 agreements were signed with 27 countries.
Najafov said Azerbaijan had been making strenuous efforts to settle the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict peacefully. Unless these efforts yield results, the country will resort to other actions to liberate its territories, he added.
