CIS MINISTERS OF DEFENSE MEET IN DUSHANBE
Baku, November 12 (AZERTAC). Yesterday the capital of Tajikistan, Dushanbe, hosted a meeting of CIS ministers of defense. The Azeri delegation led by the minister of defense Safar Abiyev took part in the meeting.
Ministers have endorsed the concept of military cooperation between the CIS states designed for 2010-2015, a plan of work of the Council for 2010, and discussed main directions of development of the CIS unified air-defense system for the period until 2015.
Ministers also focused on how to optimize the structure and combat strength of troops of the CIS Unified Air Defense System, ensure control over air space and manage the air movement of CIS member-states.
The ministers also outlined ways of interaction between defense information services for the period until 2015 and discussed the issue of creating digital cartographic database for strategic regions.
Tajik President Emomali Rahmon received defense ministers and stressed the need for stronger military cooperation to ensure better security of the CIS member-states.
