CONFERENCE ON INTER-RELIGIOUS DIALOGUE ENDS IN BAKU
Baku, 7 November (AZERTAC). The International conference entitled “Inter-religious dialogue: from mutual understanding towards joint cooperation” has ended today here.
Chief of Azerbaijan`s State Committee for work with Religious Associations Hidayat Orujov said “Baku`s hosting such a significant event is evidence to the fact that President Ilham Aliyev gives great importance to religious tolerance in the country”. He said the conference is of great importance in terms of contributing to inter-religious dialogue.
Chairman of the Central Muslim Board in Russia Talgat Tajuddin underscored the importance of the conference. He said all peoples and societies should live in the conditions of dialogue.
Head of the Center for Islamic Research under the President of Tajikistan Nuradullah Dovlatov read out the congratulatory letter of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon to Allahshukur Pashazade.
Chairman of Russia`s Mufti Council Ravil Gaynutdin praised Allahshukur Pashazade`s initiatives towards settling the Nagorno-Karabakh problem and establishing peace and stability in the Caucasus region.
Georgian Patriarch Ilia II expressed hope that problems which Azerbaijan and Georgia face will be resolved. He said “if we want peace in the Caucasus region we should achieve territorial integrity”. “Justice is the main condition for establishing peace. There is no peace without justice”, he underlined.
Kuwaiti minister of foundations Adil al-Falah, Director of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of thought Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri, representative of the Turkey`s Religious Affairs Office Mehmet Yemin Ozafshar, representative from Saudi Arabia Abdurrahman al-Zeyid said the conference will contribute to developing inter-religious relations.
Chairman of the Coordination Center of North Caucasus Muslims Ismail Berdiyev presented Allahshukur Pashazade the Center`s order.
Other speakers at the event praised the level of inter-religious dialogue and religious tolerance in Azerbaijan.
The event participants also adopted an address to the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
Allahshukur Pashazade thanked President Ilham Aliyev for his appraisal of Sheikhulislam`s contribution to inter-religious dialogue.
The conference culminated in the adoption of appropriate resolution.
