Conference on “Strengthening Partnership between Youth Organizations in Azerbaijan” held
Baku, August 12 (AZERTAC). The US-Educated Azerbaijan Alumni Association (AAA) in partnership with the European Movement Azerbaijan (EMA) and UN Department of Public Infomration, have organized a conference on cooperation among youth organizations of Azerbaijan to mark the UN Youth Day- August 12, 2012 at the US-Azerbaijan Education center.
As the main area of interest this year was establishing partnership, problems of cooperation between youth organizations and strengthening partnership between local and international organizations to solve obstacles facing youth.
The conference was attended by Anar Tahirov, chairman of the Ukrainian-Azerbaijan Youth Union, representative of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Youth and Sports Ramil Mammadov, representative of US embassy in Azerbaijan Chris Jones, as well as representatives of various youth organizations and youth studying abroad.
The event was opened by the representative of the UN Information Department in Azerbaijan Enver Selimovic who said that it is about 13 years the UN has marked International Youth Day.
“It is important to cooperate with youth anywhere you are. So, for this purpose, the UN launched the “I was here” campaign to shine a spotlight on humanitarian work and encourage people around the world to get involved by doing something good for others,” he highlighted.
As a whole, the conference aimed to bring together representatives of youth organizations from different backgrounds, key leading experts in the youth policy and independent experts who have shown activism in order to work together on establishing partnership and collective work of youth organizations in Azerbaijan. The active discussions on the topics that reflect this work will help to determine main issues and problems to the cooperation between youth, thus encouraging the solution to these problems within young people.
