The Government of Germany agreed to the UN Office on Drug Control’s remarks regarding the expansion of transportation and illegal cultivation of drugs in the territory of the European Union and, therefore, embarked on strategy of harsh measures against drug addiction and illegal drugs turnover.

Today, drug traffickers penetrate into the various countries by means of their vehicles carrying cargo and passengers to Europe. Loose checks on the roads, weak customs control pave the way for the terrorists and gangs to widen their activities, AzerTAj correspondent learnt from the Federal Government.

The strategy launched since March 1 implies the reequipment and training of the police and customs services to toughen control in airports and frontier transit checkpoints. Today, every person irrespective of who he really is entering or leaving the country is subjected to thorough examination.

According to the Federal Government, the search operations of law-enforcement bodies carried out in 8 cities of Germany and 1 city of Netherlands on March 2 resulted in detention of 18 drug barons and seize of a great amount of drugs. The operations are underway.
