HEAD OF AZERBAIJAN SUPREME COURT MEETS “AGO” GROUP

Baku, November 25 (AZERTAC). Chairman of the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan Ramiz Rzayev met Wednesday with representatives of the “Ago” Monitoring Group of the Council of Europe`s Council of Ministers.

Rzayev informed the group about the judicial system in Azerbaijan, Supreme Court`s structure and activity. He mentioned that the legal system of Azerbaijan is based on the continental law.

According to him, decisions made in Azerbaijan are being brought in line with European standards. Information technologies are widely used during trials.

Chairman of the Group, Romania`s Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe Stelian Stoian expressed his satisfaction with modernization of judicial system in the country.

He praised the conformity of judge selection procedures with European standards, participation of international experts in seminars, trainings and application of information technologies.

The monitoring group viewed a new building of the Supreme Court.
