Israel continues promotion of renewable energy tech

Baku, March 10, AZERTAC
In what it called a “groundbreaking step to promote renewable energy in Israel’s sovereign and economic waters,” Israel’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure is issuing a tender to conduct a strategic environmental survey (SES) for the implementation of renewable energy technologies at sea and technologies that promote meeting Israel’s goals for the promotion and diversification of renewable energies and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the energy sector, according to The Press Service of Israel (TPS-IL).
The technologies being examined include, among others, energy production from ocean waves, currents, wind and sun, green hydrogen production, energy storage, heat exchange, biomass growth and carbon fixation.
The implementation of the SSC for renewable energies in Israel’s maritime space will begin this year and will last about a year and a half. It will be carried out according to a “Scoping Document” that was formulated and updated by a professional team at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, in close and transparent cooperation with content experts, other government ministries, planning agencies and the public. The SSC will provide a reliable and available knowledge infrastructure for making decisions regarding the development of the maritime space for these applications, even at the planning stage, while maximizing systemic benefits and minimizing negative impacts on the environment.
