MILLI MAJLIS VICE-SPEAKER MEETS IRANIAN MP
Baku, November 9 (AZERTAC). First vice-speaker of Azerbaijan Milli Majlis Ziyafat Asgarov met Monday visiting chairman of the Islamic Consultative Assembly`s commission on social affairs Suleyman Jafarzade.
Asgarov said his country attaches significant importance to boosting relationship with Iran. According to him, numerous documents signed during reciprocal visits by the two countries` presidents “created strong legal ground for expansion of bilateral relations”.
“Your current visit will contribute to deepening bilateral cooperation even more”, he added.
Touching upon the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Asgarov thanked the Iranian leadership for backing Azerbaijan`s “just stance” on the dispute.
Suleyman Jafarzade, in turn, expressed confidence that his visit to Azerbaijan will contribute to developing bilateral ties including inter-parliamentary links.
On the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Jafarzade said Iran backs Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity. He underlined Nagorno-Karabakh is the land of Azerbaijan, emphasizing “the aggression Azerbaijan faces must be ended soon”.
The sides also discussed prospects for energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran.
