NEW PARLIAMENT ELECTIONS CAN BE HELD IN TURKEY
Such a situation happens in the country for the first time. There are three versions related to the issue: the # November elections should be considered invalid and conduct by-elections, or, abolish the mandates of 42 deputies of Adalet and Inkishaf Party, 22 from Jumhuriyyet Khalg Party, and 2 from independent MPs, instead of which, 66 mandates be given to the DYP deputies.
The cassation Court sent its decision to the Central Electoral Commission that should make final verdict. Some propose that enough time has passed from the elections and new government was organized, so that, taking into account this political decision is needed. The Great National Assembly of Turkey should discuss the issue.
It has to be reminded that next municipal elections are due in spring 2004. Many Members of Parliaments suggest conducting along with the municipal elections, also elections to the Parliament. The situation is in the focus of European Union.
