OSCE REPRESENTATIVE WELCOMES GEORGIAN LEADERSHIP’S ACTIVITY
OSCE High Commissioner for national minorities, Swedish diplomat Rolf Ekeus, staying for a three day visit in Georgia, met with the representatives of the state structures and heads of the national communities of Georgia.
The meeting also attended by Speaker of Parliament Nino Burdjanadze, Prime-Minister Zurab Jvaniya, Minister of Foreign Affairs Tedo Japaridze, focused on protection of national minorities.
Having reminded on participation of the international observers at the upcoming Parliamentary election, in Georgia, on March 28, the OSCE high commissioner described conducting democratic and fair elections as a key element of minorities integration into multinational communities.
In conclusion, the diplomat stressed the necessity of ratification of the Council of Europe framework convention “On national minorities”.
