PARLIAMENT HOLDS HEARINGS ON VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

Baku, 2 December (AZERTAC). Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan today held hearings on the theme “Say “No!” to violence against women!”

Attended by representatives of the United Nations, the Council of Europe, the OSCE and other international structures, Interior Ministry, the Ministry of Justice, the Prosecutor Office, State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of the Republic, the delegates of NGOs and mass media, the event was addressed by vice-speaker of Azerbaijan Parliament Bahar Muradova, who stressed topicality of the question.

On the topic, also was speaking special envoy of the CE Secretary General in Azerbaijan Veronika Kotek, UNICEF country representative Mark Hereward, head of the OSCE Baku Office Ali Bilge Cankorel.

As provided, the Azerbaijan Parliament has already prepared a special bill “On Domestic Violence in Azerbaijan” to be discussed in coming days.
