Lima, October 22, AZERTAC
Peru’s “larazon.pe” portal published an article headlined "Garabagh carpet: A symbol of Azerbaijan’s rich carpet-weaving traditions and Azerbaijan–Peru friendship."
The article highlighted the distinctive features of Garabagh carpet weaving and the symbolic meaning of the "Dragon" motif, describing the carpet as a rare masterpiece that harmoniously blends floral ornaments with geometric shapes.
According to the article, following a conference on Azerbaijani carpet weaving, a presentation ceremony was held to award a certificate for a Garabagh carpet.
The event was attended by Azerbaijani Ambassador to Peru Seymur Fataliyev and Vice Mayor of Metropolitan Lima Fabiola María Morales Castillo. During the ceremony, the publication Azerbaijani Carpets, produced by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, was presented as a gift to the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima.
Attendees included senior Peruvian officials, representatives from the Foreign and Culture ministries, municipality mayors, foreign diplomats, cultural and academic figures, Peruvian alumni of Azerbaijani universities, local media, and members of the Azerbaijani diaspora.
The event also featured promotional tourism videos, Azerbaijani classical music, and traditional cuisine.
The Garabagh carpet will be permanently displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Lima, offering visitors a unique look at Azerbaijan's weaving heritage while serving as a symbol of friendship and cultural collaboration between Azerbaijan and Peru.
