PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV DECREES ON MARKING 80TH ANNIVERSARY OF FIRST TURKOLOGICAL CONGRESS
The Order in particular runs: “The First Turkological Congress held in 1926 in Baku turns its 80 on February 2006. The Congress played an important role in finding solutions to the problems in history and ethnography, language and literature of the Turkish speaking nations, and laid the foundation of the new stage in their cultural development.
Among the problems discussed by the Congress a special place was occupied by those related to alphabet, orthography and terminology in Turkic languages. The major goal of the event was transfer to a new alphabetic system.
The Order also mentions the great role of the nationwide leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev in development of the Azerbaijani language as an official one, pointing out that his decrees on improvement of the work towards application of the official language and on establishment of the Day of Azerbaijani Alphabet and Azerbaijani Language may be considered as an important documents promoting development of our native language.
The Order churches relevant ministries and departments with preparing and implementing actions in connection with this landmark jubilee.
