Rome hosts EANA`s annual conference
Baku, May 11 (AZERTAC). The annual conference of the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA) held in Rome, Italy.
The event brought together members of the organizations, including AZERTAC, which has been involved in EANA activities since 2008.
Director General of Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency (AZERTAC) Aslan Aslanov, Chief of the Agency`s Foreign Department Orkhan Muradov and AZERTAC correspondent based in Germany Vugar Seyidov attended the conference.
The editor-in-chief of the Finnish Agency STT Lehtikuva Peterson welcomed the participants and introduced the agenda. In the first panel, the speeches were made by Executive director of the Italian Agency ANSA Giuseppe Cerbone on the topic “What´s next after the multimedia?”, President of the France Press Agency Emmanuel Hoog - “How Internet could be a source of financing for the news agencies”, Vice-president of German agency DPA Mathias Mahn and project manager of DPA Joachim Weidemann - “dpa insight EU - a new vertical and analytical service on EU policies and debates.”
The second panel heard reports by Mr Jiri Majstr, Director General, CTK on “Partner and competitor: CTK combining white label for partnerships and CTK branding for B2C”, Mr Clive Marshall, CEO, Press Association on “Financing of a national news agency”, Georgina Hudson, chief of PricewaterhouseCoopers on “PricewaterhouseCoopers` Media Outlook. European media markets, alternative scenarios, analysis.” The heads of the organization Mainstream Data, sponsor of the conference, Scott Calder, President and CEO, Greg Weeks, Vice President of Media Services made presentations as well.
The third panel heard reports by Mr Erik van Gruijthuijsen, CEO, ANP on “ANP and the battle on the Dutch media market”, Ms Lidia Sobanska, CEO and Mr Piotr Ambroziak, Commercial Director, both PAP on “Developing commercial operations at a state owned news agency. What`s the planned privatisation expected to change?”, Branka Djukic, Director General and Ms Dragana Milutinovic, Foreign Relations Director, both Tanjug on “30 Discussions about Tanjug´s future financing and copyright”.
The fourth panel heard reports by Mr Afonso Camoes, Director General, LUSA on mixed public/private ownership. A transition or a future solution for a national news agency?”, Ms Dimitra Letsa, Head of Public and International Relations, ANA on Country Reports 2012. EANA´s annual market survey.
The delegation of AZERTAC held a number of meetings with their colleagues to discuss bilateral cooperation.
The conference will end on Friday.
