Russian Information and Cultural Center marks Leonid Sobinov`s 140th anniversary

Baku, June 18 (AZERTAC). An event dedicated to the 140th anniversary of Russian operatic tenor Leonid Sobinov has been held at the Russian Information and Cultural Center in Azerbaijan`s capital.

According to the press service of the Russian Information and Cultural Center, host of the event Gelena Stakhovskaya provided information on life and activity of Leonid Sobinov.

The participants watched a documentary on Russian operatic tenor.

Students of the Baku Music Academy named after Uzeyir Hajibayli performed music pieces by Azerbaijani and European composers in the event.

Leonid Sobinov was an acclaimed Imperial Russian operatic tenor. His fame continued unabated into the Soviet era, and he was made a People`s Artist of the RSFSR in 1923. Sobinov`s voice was lyrical in size and tone, and it was employed with discerning taste and excellent musicianship.
