SEVENTH FILM FESTIVAL EAST-WEST ENDED IN BAKU
The last day of the 7th Baku International Film Festival East-West began in movie theater Azerbaijan with “The Nomads” presented by the Kazakhfilm (Kazakhstan) in association with True Stories Production (USA) and Ibrus Ltd (Russia). The film directed by Sergey Bodrov and Talgat Temenov on the base of screenplays by Rustam Ibrahimbayov and Pavel Duvidzon tells a story of the most dramatic periods in the history of Kazakh people, and the hero who unites separate Kazakh tribes to defend their lands from enemies.
Afterwards, President of the Confederation of the Eurasian Cinematographic Unions Rustam Ibrahimbayov announced winners of the Festival as follows: Georgian actor Giorgi Masharashvili was awarded the prize and diploma “For the most courageous part” in the Levan Zakareishvili’s “Tbilisi-Tbilisi”, actress Mehriban Zeki was awarded those “For the most womanly part” in Nijat Feyzullayev’s “Where Rivers Flow Together” (Azerbaijan), film directors mother and son Guland Muhabbatova and Daler Rahmatov from Tajikistan were awarded the Prize “For the most humane message” for their “The Wanderer”, and Lithuanian director of the “Seven Invisible Men” Sharunas Bartas was awarded the prize “For contribution to development of cinematography.”
