Baku, May 22, AZERTAC
“Demining is not only a humanitarian activity that saves lives, but also a fundamental pillar of restoration and reconstruction,” said Vugar Suleymanov, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA), during the event titled “Post-Conflict Urban Reconstruction: The Critical Role of Humanitarian Mine Action” held as part of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
“The activity creates the necessary conditions for the reconstruction of residential houses, the restoration of infrastructure, the revival of agriculture, the development of transport networks, and the revitalization of economic activity. As part of the Great Return Program, demining activities have been fully integrated into urban planning, reconstruction, and development processes,” Vugar Suleymanov noted.
