Azerbaijan, Brazil mark 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations
Baku, November 23 (AZERTAC). An event marking the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Brazil has been held at the Claudio Santoro National Theatre in Brasilia.
Speaking to the opening ceremony, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Brazil Elnur Sultanov said relations between the two countries were built on strong foundations. He stressed the importance of bilateral cooperation in the political, economic, humanitarian and cultural areas. He introduced Azerbaijani People`s Artist Yalchin Adigozalov, saying he will conduct a concert after the opening ceremony, which, he expressed confidence, would contribute to bringing the two countries closer to each other.
Chief conductor of Brazilian Symphony Orchestra Claudio Cohen hailed cultural relations between Azerbaijan and Brazil. He said Azerbaijan has rich musical culture.
The ceremony was followed by a concert of the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra conducted by Adigozalov. They performed works by Azerbaijani composers Fikrat Amirov and Gara Garayev, Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos, and Russian Peter Tchaikovsky.
The concert was watched by Brazilian officials, culture figures, representatives of the diplomatic corps in Brazil, and local public figures.
