ALMATY HOSTS OSCE PA SESSION
Almaty, May 15 (AZERTAC). The OSCE`s Trans-Asian Parliamentary Forum "Eurasian Dimension" has today finished its work in Almaty.
The participants - delegates of the parliaments of the OSCE member states, Mediterranean and Asian partner countries, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Jordan, representatives of international organizations, scientific-research institutes, diplomatic corps - held three sessions. They discussed the issues of regional security, economic development, resource management, environmental protection, religious tolerance, human trafficking, labor migration and gender equality.
They also focused on irrational and disputed use of water basins in the Central Asia and pollution of the Caspian Sea.
Member of the Azerbaijani delegation, chairman of the Parliament`s agrarian committee Eldar Ibrahimov highlighted Azerbaijan`s economic progress. He said Azerbaijan “effectively” uses its oil and gas resources, saying “it is what helps us to avoid the crisis”.
Ibrahimov noted Azerbaijan enjoys “fruitful” cooperation with the world`s huge oil and gas companies.
The parliamentarian also informed the participants about the use of alternative energy sources in Azerbaijan. He also touched upon the damage inflicted by Armenia on Azerbaijan`s nature and cultural heritage.
