AZERBAIJANI DELEGATION ATTENDS PUOICM SESSION
Baku, July 6 (AZERTAC). Extraordinary meeting of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC)-member states (PUOICM) was held in Damascus, Syria, 30 June.
The event joined by reps from about 50 countries was also attended by Azerbaijani delegation led by Govhar Bakhshaliyeva, head of the Azerbaijan delegation to PUOICM.
At the conference dedicated to the Near East problem, addressing was Marzuki Alie, Acting Chairman of PUOICM, Speaker of Indonesian Parliament, Mahmoud Al-Abrash, Speaker of Syrian Parliament, Mahmoud Erol Kilic, the Secretary-General of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States.
During the meeting, PUOICM stressed the importance of lifting the "unfair" and "inhumane" siege on Gaza with 1,5 min population.
Addressing the participants, head of Azerbaijan delegation Bakhshaliyeva spoke of the painful problem of Azerbaijan, the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, existence of over one million of refugees and IDPs in the country, huge damage the Armenian aggressors made to the material-spiritual values of Azerbaijan. The Armenian aggression threatens entire region, extraordinary meeting of Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUOICM) stated.
Bakhshaliyeva called on the participants to demand from Armenia to implement the resolutions of international organizations to withdraw its troops from the occupied Azerbaijani territories, to raise the efforts to restore the rights of the peoples of Palestine and Azerbaijan, and strengthen the Islamic solidarity among the OIC member states.
Participants of the meeting adopted the Damascus Declaration.
