Azerbaijani Premier meets Speaker of Georgian Parliament
Baku, July 7 (AZERTAC). Primer Minister of Azerbaijan Artur Rasizade has met a delegation led by Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia David Usupashvili.
Speaking of the historical roots of Azerbaijani-Georgian relations, the Premier praised the personal ties between the heads of the state of both countries.
Rasizade highlighted the successful cooperation between the parliaments of Azerbaijan and Georgia, adding this visit would contribute to the development of the bilateral bonds.
The Premier also highlighted several large scale regional economic projects implemented by Azerbaijan and Georgia.
Touching upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Rasizade said as a result of the dispute, 20 percent of the Azerbaijani lands were occupied, and more than one million Azerbaijanis became refugees and IDPs.
He said occupation policy of Armenia poses a threat to the entire region, adding Armenia itself suffers from this policy.
The Premier also noted that Armenia's current leadership committed the Khojaly genocide against Azerbaijanis.
David Usupashvili, in turn, said Georgia was interested in experience of Azerbaijan in the fields of economy and politics. He expressed confidence that economic relations between the two countries would further develop, adding regional stability was the most important factor for this.
The Georgian Speaker also expressed his country`s keenness for deepening interparliamentary relations with Azerbaijan.
