Ulyanovsk, 24 November (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev and Russian leader Dmitry Medvedev have today met here.
The Russian President said:
“Today we`ve inaugurated a bridge whose foundation was laid 25 years ago but then halted because of different reasons. Thank you for accepting my invitation to come and attend the opening of the bridge.”
“Inauguration of the Heydar Aliyev square and Heydar Aliyev monument here are the testimony to our friendship. This is the model of how relations between states in the post-Soviet space should be built,” said the Russian leader.
“It is of great pleasure that we meet with you not only in Moscow, Baku or other large cities, but also in our remote regions to discuss our intergovernmental relations and regional problems.”
Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev said:
“Thank you for inviting me to Ulyanovsk. Surely, today will enter the history of our relations as we attended several events which are of great importance both to Ulyanovsk`s residents and our people.”
“Much is linked to Heydar Aliyev in the history of development of the Soviet state. He was here several times during his tenure as deputy chairman of the government. Heydar Aliyev is held in much respect here, I made it certain during my meetings with local residents today. This proves that our relations develop on high level. And with great pleasure I stress that they are developing very dynamically and effectively.”
“We often meet with you both during official visits and such short but very important and fruitful working visits. I believe today we will discuss important issues with respect to our bilateral relations, in particular the future of our countries, and also regional development.
