AZERBAIJANI SPEAKER MEETS HIS FOREIGN COUNTERPARTS IN GENEVA
Baku, July 20 (AZERTAC). Visiting Geneva to attend the third World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, the Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker Ogtay Asadov has met his counterparts from different countries, including Kasim Jomard Tokayev of Kazakhstan, Anatoly Rubinov of Belarus, Lorn Mozar of Luxemburg and René van der Linden of the Netherlands.
Asadov and Tokayev discussed ways of further developing the bilateral relations and strengthening the interparliamentary ties.
The two praised roles of Presidents to expand the cooperation between the two nations.
Chairman of the Kazakh Senate highlighted the importance of further boosting the relations among Turkish speaking countries, saying the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic nations can play a “key” role in this sense.
The speakers also discussed the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Asadov expressed assurance Kazakhstan, as the OSCE`s chair-in-office, would make a contribution to the fair solution of the problem.
During the meeting with the Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, Anatoly Rubinov, the Azerbaijani Speaker said “the reciprocal visits by top officials strengthen the bilateral ties”.
Robinov said his people praise the support by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to them and to the state of Belarus. He especially noted the support of Azerbaijan to Belarus in Euronest.
The two also exchanged views over the current level of cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including economy, trade, culture and science.
In the meeting with his Luxembourgian colleague Lorn Mozar, Asadov said the two countries enjoy “high level” bilateral ties. The Azerbaijani speaker said the upcoming visit by Mozar to Baku would contribute to expanding the bilateral relations.
With the President of the Dutch Senate René van der Linden, the Azeri Speaker discussed a variety of issues of mutual interest. Asadov hailed Van Der Linden`s activities during his tenure as a PACE president.
The two stressed the importance of establishing the interparliamentary friendship groups.
They also discussed prospects for further developing the economic and cultural cooperation.
