Azerbaijan`s ambassador makes report in Berlin International Economics Congress 2013
Baku, March 15 (AZERTAC). A lecture on “Economic Diversification: Azerbaijan Model of Development” was delivered by Azerbaijani Ambassador to Germany Parviz Shahbazov within the Berlin International Economics Congress 2013 held at the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy.
The participants of the conference included dignitaries, current and former heads of state and ministers, as well leading figures and experts from international economics & politics and law, academy, the private sector, the diplomatic community and civil society from across the world.
In his speech, Ambassador Shahbazov informed the participants about Azerbaijan`s achievements since restoration of its independence, the implemented socio-political, economic and cultural reforms, as well as priorities of the further development.
The ambassador also spoke about “The Contract of the Century” signed in 1994, by nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev which ensured the country`s long-term and successful development, noting the country`s achieved economic diversification, huge investments, successful and mutually advantageous relations with foreign companies and the increase in production.
Speaking about the economic potential and favorable business environment in Azerbaijan, the Ambassador also updated participants on Azerbaijan's role in European energy security.
The Berlin International Economics Congress is one of the world´s leading global conferences combining the fields of International Relations, International Economics, Globalization and Nation Branding with an interdisciplinary and multinational program. The Congress 2013 is held parallel to the ITB Berlin (Internationale Tourismus-Börse Berlin), which is the world`s largest tourism trade fair.
The 2013 Congress focused on innovative strategies to promote nation branding activities as a means to tackle economic, environmental, social and cultural concerns. With nation branding as its core theme, the Congress aims to explore and present the benefits and opportunities for state’s nation branding campaigns established on the promotion of intercultural relations, sustainable development, youth education and advancement, ecotourism and environmental responsibility. The Congress created a blueprint for the opportunities for States and institutions to apply new approaches of Nation Branding.
The program of the conference consisted of lectures, seminars, workshops, debates, and panel discussions that featured leading figures and experts in the fields of International Economics & Politics, Academia, Investment, Development, Tourism, Conflict Resolution, Finance, Marketing & Advertising, and Civil Society.
