Azerbaijan`s Defense Minister meets chairman of Pakistan`s Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee
Baku, February 29 (AZERTAC). Defense minister of Azerbaijan, colonel-general Safar Abiyev met Wednesday visiting chairman of Pakistan`s Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Khalid Shameem Wynne.
They exchanged views on prospects for expanding military cooperation.
Abiyev briefed the Pakistani military official on military-political situation in the region, and problems resulting from the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Azerbaijan`s Defense Minister underlined his country supported peace in the region, adding “but if Azerbaijan`s occupied lands would not be liberated the country would have to resort to other necessary means”.
Shameem Wynne stressed Pakistan would always support Azerbaijan`s fair struggle.
Earlier in the day Pakistan`s Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and his accompanying delegation visited Alley of Honors to pay respect national leader Heydar Aliyev and prominent ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva. They also visited Alley of Martyrs.
