Baku, February 17 (AZERTAC). Member of the Bundestag, parliament of Germany, Michael Fuchs visited Azerbaijan`s State Oil Company (SOCAR), where he met Elshad Nasirov, SOCAR's Vice President for Investments and Marketing on Thursday.

Stressing the successful development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Germany, Elshad Nasirov expressed his assurance that Michael Fucs`s visit would have positive impact on bilateral relations.

In his turn, German parliamentarian said that his country is interested in establishment of close relations with such a strong economy as Azerbaijan underlining the importance of economic cooperation in interstate relationship.

SOCAR`s vice –president provided information on contribution of energy-rich Azerbaijan to world oil industry.

“Baku has always been one of the oil centers of the world. Foreign inverters, especially German businessmen were interested to invest here in the early 20th Century,” he added.

Touching on the global and regional oil-gas projects being implemented in Azerbaijan, Elshad Nasirov praised achievements as part of the projects, as well as the country`s significant role from the point of view of the European Energy Security.

Member of Bundestag highlighted further development of relations between Azerbaijan and Germany.
