NAM Parliamentary Network, Pan-African Parliament ink MoU

The Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network (NAM PN) and the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on September 16.
The document was signed by Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis and Chairperson of the NAM PN, and Fateh Boutbig, President of the PAP.
Speaker Sahiba Gafarova emphasized that the document would contribute to enhancing cooperation between the two parliamentary platforms.
The meeting highlighted the PAP’s crucial role in promoting interparliamentary dialogue on the African continent, as well as advancing cooperation among PAP member states and furthering shared development goals.
The Azerbaijani Parliamentary Speaker noted that the Milli Majlis attaches particular importance to cooperation with African parliaments. In this regard, she stressed the importance of enhancing parliamentary diplomacy and interparliamentary ties, as well as strengthening political dialogue.
Noting that PAP President Fateh Boutbig is also a member of the Algerian Parliament, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova praised the development of existing bilateral relations with Algeria across various domains.
Fateh Boutbig emphasized the growing role of parliamentary diplomacy, expressing the PAP’s readiness to cooperate with international parliamentary organizations and the parliaments of different countries.
The meeting also addressed ways to enhance cooperation between the PAP, the Milli Majlis and the NAM PN.
