OVER 160 STUDENTS TO BE AWARDED AT BAKU SCIENCE OLYMPIAD
Baku, 5 December (AZERTAC). As earlier informed, the 6th International Junior Science Olympiad started in Azerbaijan`s capital. Reportedly, over 160 students will be awarded at the Olympiad.
On December 4, in the Heydar Aliyev Sports-Concert Complex, participants of the International Science Olympiad answered the first test tasks. In these Olympiad on the physics, chemistry and biology conducted among 15-year-old teenagers, are taking part 258 students from 46 countries. As a whole, the number of the visitors who have come to Baku exceeds 600.
The Olympiad is conducted with support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, IJSO (International Junior Science Olympiad) and National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan.
Indira Hajiyeva, member of Olympiad`s Organizing Committee said: “Students will take part in three sample examinations. The first of them are test tasks coming to an end now. The second is theoretical examination, and the third is experimental.
I. Hajiyeva said that answers to examination questions will be estimated by jury comprising 18 persons. Each right answer will be estimated by 1 point. 30 points will be the highest indicator on test tasks and theoretical examinations. At her words, on experimental test the highest point is 40 pts.
Hajiyeva underlined that following the results of the Olympiad, 27 of the students, who have garnered the highest point, will receive gold, 57 – silver, and 80 – bronze medals. Besides, according to the rules of Olympiad, the participant who has shown the highest result will get the cup.
Rewarding of winners of 6th International Science Olympiad will take place on December 10.
