Baku, May 18, AZERTAC
The “Azerbaijan neighborhood” reconstruction project in Türkiye’s Kahramanmaraş province was showcased at the Turkish Pavilion on the sidelines of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).
In his remarks, Ahmet Kutluğ Gayretli, Head of the Mass Housing Projects and Research Center Department of Türkiye, noted that commercial facilities, offices, a gym, a cultural center, and a shopping mall operate in the "Azerbaijan neighborhood" in Kahramanmaraş.
According to him, the neighborhood, which also features a school named after Heydar Aliyev, is already becoming one of the most beautiful and rapidly developing residential areas of Kahramanmaraş.
“Large scale reconstruction works were carried out in the area known as the “Azerbaijan neighborhood” in Kahramanmaraş following the earthquake. The project included the construction of 1,223 residential buildings, 1,789 commercial facilities, 464 offices, a cultural center and a school named after Heydar Aliyev, within Türkiye’s TOKİ project.
The "Azerbaijani neighborhood" project stands as both a model of modern urban planning and a real embodiment of brotherhood and solidarity between Azerbaijan and Türkiye. The initiative is considered one of the important steps towards creating a sustainable and comfortable living environment in the earthquake-affected areas.
