WUF13 transport management plan unveiled at media briefing VIDEO

On 5 May, a media briefing was held at which the transport management plan for the thirteenth session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), set to take place in Baku from 17 to 22 May 2026, was outlined.
Speakers at the briefing included Namidan Piriyev, Head of the Intelligent Transport Management Centre at the Ministry of Internal Affairs; Emin Majidov, Head of the Public Transport Department at the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA); and Vugar Aslanov, Head of the Transport Department at the WUF13 Azerbaijan Operations Company.
Vugar Aslanov, Head of the Transport Department at the WUF13 Azerbaijan Operations Company, outlined the event’s transport system, including access arrangements to the venue, the management of transport zones and the digital map. Participants were also briefed on transport routes, interchange hubs and access points.
Emin Majidov, Head of the Public Transport Department at the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA), noted that the uninterrupted and efficient operation of public transport will be ensured throughout WUF13. Dedicated lanes are being introduced along designated routes, with the installation of appropriate signage and road markings underway.
Transport operations have been comprehensively planned, including the organisation of routes and the operation of Transport Exchange Hubs. Measures will also be implemented to optimise taxi services, while steps are being taken to enhance the availability of micromobility options for visitors. Bus movements will be monitored and managed in real time from AYNA’s Monitoring Centre.
Namidan Piriyev, Head of the Intelligent Transport Management Centre at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, said that traffic arrangements during the event will be coordinated in close partnership with the road police to ensure the smooth and uninterrupted movement of both participants and the wider public.
He added that proactive measures will be put in place to mitigate potential congestion, including the activation of a “green wave” traffic signal system along key corridors to maintain a steady traffic flow.
