4th Gabala International Music Festival kicks off
Baku, July 25 (AZERTAC). The Gabala Music Festival has again opened its doors to participants, guests and all music lovers.
The international festival, fourth this year, is held in Gabala, a picturesque region of Azerbaijan, with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
The 4th festival opened with a concert marking the 70th anniversary of world renowned musician, USSR People’s Artist Muslim Magomayev.
Speaking to the opening ceremony, Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Minister Abulfas Garayev highlighted Magomayev life and activity.
The Minister thanked the country`s first lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassador, MP Mehriban Aliyeva for her initiative to hold the international music festival.
The concert featured music pieces by outstanding composers, including Rachmaninoff, Strauss, Brahms, Schumann, Uzeyir Hajibeyli, Tofig Guliyev and Vagif Mustafazade.
The concert also featured performance by rector of the Baku Music Academy Farhad Badalbayli, one of art directors of the festival Dmitry Yablonsky, People’s Artist Murad Adigozelzade, singers Avaz Abdullayev, Farida Mammadova, Sabina Asadova, honored artist Gulnaz Ismayilova, talented young soloists, and mugham singers.
Magomayev`s spouse, the people’s artist of USSR Tamara Sinvanskaya, MP Fattah Heydarov, as well as state and governmental officials also attended the event.
The official opening ceremony of the festival will be held Wednesday.
